Them good old days, you know. Drawing on 30 years of experience in bagel-baking, we bring you the traditional family recipes we have perfected at home – using only the finest ingredients, without any additives whatsoever. All baked, prepared and presented in store.

A popular myth describing the history of the bagel goes back to 1683. An unknown Jewish baker in Vienna wanted to honour the Polish King John III’s skill as a horseman,  protecting his country from invaders. The round shape of the bagel resembles a horse's stirrup (especially the irregular, hand-rolled variety). The Austrian word for stirrup is beugel. This story describes how the baker created rounded bread in honour of the king.
The oldest records are found in Polish court documents dated 1394, and historical references indicate that bagels, at the time called 'beygl', were used as gifts for women about to give birth.



Get to know your taste buddies
It has to be said: with the bagel having a 600-year-old history, no one can claim to know all the ins and outs of this holesome food. However, drawing on 30 years’ experience, we do think that we’re as close as anyone to mastering the fine art of bagel-baking.
B’s founders, Alon Kubi and Yoav Baumgarten, grew up in homes where food culture was a matter of great pride. When other people might have talked about the weather or the latest soccer scores, the boys’ families would discuss how to achieve an even better crust on mon bagels or where to find the freshest produce. (They would also commonly analyse Alon’s driving skills and Yoav’s romantic advances in the neighbourhood, but that’s another story.) Exploring new tastes and developing recipes was a daily ritual – a way of life.
Then Alon and Yoav set off into the big world on their own and realised that, by and large, it had lost touch with that heartfelt connection to food. Launching successful careers in sales and marketing, they met plenty of businessmen who above all regarded food as a product with X shelf life, Y target group and Z return on investment, seemingly without any feeling whatsoever for what they were selling. A sad state of affairs.
It wasn’t long before both Alon and Yoav surrendered to their passion for authentic cuisine. On the expert advice of his father-in-law, Roni, who had been baking bagels since 1989, Alon opened a family-oriented bakery in North West London in 2010. Its popularity quickly gave rise to another two bakeries in that area.
Now the turn has come for other parts of the city to enjoy the same traditional family recipes. Under the banner of B, Alon has joined forces with Yoav to offer Londoners fresh bagels, bagel sandwiches, salads, breakfasts and great deli products.

With nearly 30 years of experience in producing freshly baked bagels and goodies for the people of London, we want you to treasure good food as much as we do. We started out in North West London and are now also situated in Fulham Road, Chelsea. This is where we daily bake bagels, bread and pastries, lovingly chop our salads and create fresh platters for your perfect event, whether it be a large or small occasion, formal conference or the more casual family get-together.
What makes us different to other caterers? For one, we specialise in baking authentic bagels, bread, and pastries. Your platters will always be prepared that very day in our very own premises, with bagels and bread straight out of our oven, so they will arrive at your door as fresh as when they left ours. Like you, we care about what goes into our bodies, which is why there are no nasty additives in our food. We also pride ourselves on our selection – salads, bagels, challah and yummy goodies to please even the fussiest of eaters. Between us, our heritage is a mix of Middle Eastern and European, and our menu reflects that.
